When a poor boy trades the family cow for three magical beans, he gets way more than he bargained for. Virginia Rep on Tour presents the classic fairytale "Jack and the Beanstalk" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre Saturday, April 13 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
This lively musical depicts the famous exploits of young Jack, who decides to sell Bessie to a stranger for some purportedly magic beans -- instead of selling her in town as his mother instructed. His disappointed mom tosses them out the window. By the next morning, a giant beanstalk has grown and what can Jack do but climb right up? At the top, he finds a grumpy giant who has imprisoned a magic harp and a hen that lays golden eggs. Can Jack figure out a way to escape the wrath of the giant and take the harp and hen with him?
