Celebrating its 10th Season, Mile Square Theatre–Hudson County's leading professional Equity company–will present a revival of It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play from December 6 through December 23 at the Monroe Theatrespace (located at 720 Monroe St. in Hoboken, 2nd Floor).
It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play by Joe Landry offers an enchanting theatrical take on
Frank Capra's classic holiday film, as Mile Square Theatre transforms its space into a 1940's radio station, and presents this American favorite in front of a live studio audience. NewJersey.com called last season's production of It's A Wonderful Life, "...in a word, wonderful!" Five actors perform dozens of characters as well as produce the sound effects in Capra's timeless tale of individualism, optimism, and community.
"It's a Wonderful Life is our holiday gift to our audience," states Chris O'Connor, MST's Artistic Director. "We hope to make the play a lasting holiday tradition. It's a play that parents can bring their children to, or it can be a great date play as well."
Mile Square Theatre, called "...the treasure of Hoboken," by
Peter Filichia in the Star-Ledger, has put together a cast that includes
Martin Landry (Twilight: The Musical, Off-Broadway at New World Stages) as
George Bailey, and Eliza Simpson (recently seen in MST's box-office smash Go, Dog. Go!) as Mary Bailey. The ensemble includes
Whitney Brown (The Last Goodbye, Broadway workshop), and MST regulars Charlie Kevin (God of Carnage), and
Andy Nogasky (7th Inning Stretch).
Mary Kate Burke, former artistic director for Pennsylvania's Millbrook Playhouse, will direct the production.
It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, produced by Mile Square Theatre at the Monroe Theatrespace (located at 720 Monroe St. in Hoboken, 2nd Floor), runs from December 6 through December 23, Thursday through Saturday at 8pm, and matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are available online at (
www.milesquaretheatre.org), and at the Monroe Theatrespace box office, or by calling 201-683-7014 for reservations. Tickets are $20. Students and seniors, $12.
On Thursday, December 13 @ 8pm, there will be a special PAY WHAT YOU WILL performance. Audience members can pay whatever they wish.
