After six years of running a successful book club program, George Street Playhouse is expanding its literary offerings with a new series: LITCHAT. These pre-show discussions will be lead by The Playhouse's Director of Education, Jim Jack, and will focus on the play currently on stage, as well as the playwright, and related works of literature.

On Wednesday, March 13 the discussion will focus on the world premiere comedy Rich Girl by Victoria Stewart. Doors open at 6:45 prior to the 8pm performance. A starting point for discussion is the fact that Rich Girl is based on the Henry James play Washington Square, which also is the inspiration for The Heiress, by Ruth and Augustus Goetz.

On Wednesday, April 24 the discussion turns to Venus in Fur, the final offering of George Street Playhouse's current season. Doors open at 6:45 prior to the 8pm performance. Venus in Fur focuses on an audition for a play based on an actual novella - Venus in Furs by Leopold Sacher-Masoch.

As both performances take place during The Playhouse's preview period, a post-play discussion with members of the artistic and education staff will also take place.

The price for the complete package - including the discussion, light snacks and JIMMY JOHNS sandwiches -- is $30. Patrons holding tickets may add on the LitChat for no additional cost; please call 732-846-2895, x134 or emailmbergamo@georgestplayhouse.org. Beverages will be available for purchase at The Playhouse concessions stand as well. Contact the GSP Box Office, 732-246-7717, or visit www.GSPonline.org, to purchase. Use the code LITCHAT.
