Christmas time may be over, but for a group of foster care children, the season of giving has just begun. Thanks to members of the cast of "Who Am I: A Christmas Lullaby"; an uplifting musical about a unique group of foster children, who discover the true meaning of Christmas. This original musical; which debuted to a full house in December 2016 at the LOFT at the Union County Performing Arts Center, will be performed for foster care children in Union County on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Sistahs with Soul Restaurant in Linden, NJ.
"I am overjoyed to present "Who Am I: A Christmas Lullaby" to foster care children in central New Jersey. The story is about hope and crosses all backgrounds. This special performance is part of our philanthropic gesture of donating a portion of the show's proceeds to foster care children in need," said Mahogany Reynolds-Clarke, writer/director/producer an executive director of Just Be You Performing Arts; a mentoring organization for kids.
A key sponsor of the musical is JAFRA cosmetics New Jersey district manager, Vicel Guzman. Guzman will donate goodie bags, filled with skin care products for kids, and beauty products for the foster care parents. At the debut of the musicAl Guzman also gave away gift bags for all the guests in attendance.
"JAFRA believes that 'love springs out of benevolence'. I'm so impressed that real foster children will benefit from this performance. It's so important for children to express themselves and through the arts this is an encouraged outlet. I am thrilled to be a part of this," said Guzman.
Four foster care home families in Union County will be presented with gifts, a charitable donation, and the special performance of "Who Am I: A Christmas Lullaby". Reynolds-Clarke collaborated with Minister Zakkiyah Green, founder of Beauty in Spirit, Inc., to identify foster homes in need.
"I decided to collaborate with Just Be You Performing Arts, because I believe in their mission and vision. I believe this organization is a blessing to the children and their families. The foster families that are receiving the donation have expressed how honored they are to be chosen. One foster parent said, 'I'm so happy someone thought enough of me, to select me to be honored, so it doesn't matter how big the gift is,'" said Minister Green, who; along with her husband, has served as foster parents numerous times to over 20 children.
