Famed Choreographer & Director Luis Salgado Teaches Two Masterclasses At Axelrod Performing Arts Center ImageThis Saturday, Broadway performer, choreographer and director Luis Salgado ("In the Heights," "On Your Feet") will teach two masterclasses: Musical Theater Dance (3PM) and Choreography from "On Your Feet" (4:30PM) at Axelrod Performing Arts Center (APAC), 100 Grant Avenue, Deal Park, NJ. Each class is for ages 10 and up.

During both classes Salgado will integrate different musical-theater exercises, which he finds useful as a performer. These exercises bridge the gap between acting and dancing, exploring the space and the actor's physicality. Both classes will offer high-energy choreography from various contemporary musicals; the second class will include Sergio Trujillo's original choreography from the musical "On Your Feet," which Salgado performed on Broadway and also taught for the National Tour in Holland.

For APAC, Salgado helmed last season's smash production of "In the Heights," and the current hit production "Ragtime, the Musical," which closes on Sunday, March 25 at 3 pm.

"Luis is the most inspiring and talented director we've ever had the pleasure of hosting," says APAC Artistic Director Andrew DePrisco. "The vision, passion and commitment he brings to his work elevates the performers and production team to a surprising new level. Audiences left our production of 'In the Heights' last season feeling like they'd actually seen the Broadway cast...and many others thought it was better."

Cost: $45 for one class; $75 both classes. For more information and to register, email Lisa Goldfarb at lgoldfarb@axelrodartscenter.org; online at www.axelrodartscenter.com/apac-education; or by phone (732) 531-9106.
