Recently, Elisabeth Morrow School students participated in a TEDx talk given by Elizabeth Barry, entrepreneur and founder of TEDx Hoboken. Students learned about TED talks, learned the TEDx High Five, and played The Courage Game. The theme of TEDx Hoboken was "Infinite Horizons," and students explored the limitless power and potential that they have to follow their dreams. The students also watched a TED talk by a teenager from Kenya, Africa. The African student created an invention to scare away lions from attacking cows in his Masai village.
At the end of the assembly, a group of 25 teachers and students performed the world premiere of the song "Infinite Horizons," which was the theme of the TEDx Hoboken promotional film. The composer of the music, Jeff Buchellato, was present, and had no idea that his digitalized music would be performed live. The Elisabeth Morrow School witnessed first hand the realizing a composer's dream and we were honored to have been part of such an exciting moment. Part of the process that Ms. Barry had students do was writing down:
1) What inspires them?
2) Tell a story about it
3) Connect with others to make it happen
Try these simple steps and let your passion turn your dreams into reality
