Food for Thought Productions will present "The Lighter Side of Tennessee Williams" at the South Orange Performing Arts Center at 8pm on Thursday, October 8. The event will be directed by Antony Marsellis and will star the legendary Elaine Stritch.
Tony and Emmy Award winner Elaine Stritch will shine on the SOPAC stage for the season's opening theater event. Ms. Strich's career spans over six decades, with some of the most memorable performances on Broadway, recently culminating in the critically acclaimed one-woman cabaret show at the Hotel Carlyle. She, along with other Broadway actors, will participate in Food for Thought's award-winning one-act series, which met with great success during Season Three.
The evening will feature Elaine Stritch in the role of Amanda in Tennessee Williams' The Pretty Trap, which Williams called "A Comedy In One Act." This gem of a play, sometimes referred to as a "spinoff" of The Glass Menagerie with a happy ending, was premiered at Food For Thought. The role of Laura will be played by Tasha Lawrence and will be directed by Antony Marsellis. Join SOPAC and Food for Thought Productions for this rare opportunity to see the lighter side of Williams.
Tickets are priced at $65*, $35, $25 (*includes premium seating plus access to post-performance reception.)
