Eagle Theatre, South Jersey's only year-round Professional Equity Theatre, has been on an upward trajectory since its founding and has quickly grown into a nationally recognized non-profit organization, producing more than 160 live performances each year.

Last week, the fast-growing charity acquired a historic, 120 year-old mansion directly adjacent to the Eagle Theatre. The newly acquired property is currently a multi-unit apartment complex and will be revitalized, expanded and eventually connected to the Eagle Theatre. The organization plans to use this new location to house out-of-town actors and artists, provide classrooms for outreach and education, a technical workshop and administrative offices. In addition, a portion of this space will ultimately become an extended experiential wine lounge and lobby, offering patrons a unique social opportunity to engage before and after performances.

The initial funding to acquire the property, and begin the renovations, was provided by the State of New Jersey, Downtown Business Improvement Zone Fund, through the Hammonton Revitalization Corporation/MainStreet Hammonton. "The overall project will cost several hundred thousand dollars. More than half of the funds have already been committed and we are seeking donors and funders for the remaining amount, which will allow us to complete this ambitious project within the next several years," Jim Donio, Eagle Theatre Managing Director said.

In addition to this major announcement, Friday, August 4th marks the start of the 2nd Annual Official New Jersey Fringe Festival in Downtown Hammonton. Jersey Fringe is a 3-day street fair and theatrical marathon, featuring multiple eclectic productions, a beer and wine garden, pop-up art, food, live music, and street performers.

Access to the outdoor festival area and street fair is free. Unlimited all-day passes to indoor theatrical performances start at $19 per day. The New Jersey Fringe Festival hours are Friday, August 4th from 6pm to 12am, Saturday, August 5th from 12pm to 12am and Sunday, August 6th from 12pm to 6pm.
