Dreamcatcher Will Hold Improv Workshops for Adults and Teens, 1/26 & 2/2

Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional Theatre in Residence at the Oakes Center in Summit, will offer two workshops in Improvisational Comedy: Improv Comedy for Adults on January 26 from 10 am to 12 noon, and Improv Comedy for Teens (grades 7-12) on February 2 from 10 am to 12 noon. The workshops will be taught by improv master and Summit resident Dave Maulbeck, a Dreamcatcher company member and director of the popular comedy troupe Multiple Personality Disorder. No experience is require for this workshop, which offers students of all levels the opportunity to explore their own creativity in a supportive environment, to develop spontaneity and freedom, and to simply have fun.

Since attending the CW Post Acting Conservatory, Maulbeck has become an accomplished theater and film actor and one of the best improvisers in New York City. His credits span film, several national commercials, and TV, including Dr. Wily in "Mega Man," and Wuku in Channel 101's "The Tribe." As an improviser Dave has played on two NYC house teams, Chet Watkins and Featherweight, and he has performed comedy at Magnet Theater, The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, The Peoples Improv Theater, Improv Boston and many more. Dave helped form the Brooklyn Theater Company.

Improv Comedy for Adults will take place on Saturday, January 26 from 10-12, and Improv Comedy for Teens (grades 7-12) will take place on Saturday, February 2 from 10-12. The fee for the workshop is $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Enrollment is limited, and is on a first come, first served basis.

Workshops are at The Oakes Center, located at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit. Parking is available in the lot behind the theatre on Ashwood Avenue and at the Summit Recreation Center on Morris Avenue. The facility is wheelchair accessible.
