Eagle Theatre's 2017 New Works Development Series focuses exclusively on the unique voice of women writing for Professional Regional Theatre today.
On March 27th at 7:30PM, Eagle Theatre will celebrate International Women's Month by presenting a New Works Development Series Live Performance Reading of local playwright, Marlena Lustik's new work, THE PRIVATE RESOURCE. This reading will feature a lively post-performance discussion with the Cast, Director, Playwright, and Patrons.
THE PRIVATE RESOURCE follows the life of Constance Fennimore Woolson, a successful American writer of short stories, magazine serials and novels during the late 1800's, at a time when women who wrote professionally were few and far between. She and Henry James became friends. As they were both fanatically private about their personal lives, very little is known about this friendship. Were they colleagues, muses, professional acquaintances, lovers, soul mates? No one really knows. Perhaps they themselves were not sure.
"The secret life of these two passionate souls has led to this fantasy of what might have happened between them. Their story is timeless as it mirrors the eternal difficulty that seems to exist in every relationship between a man and a woman as they try to figure out just what is real and what is not." - Marlena Lustik, Playwright of The Private Resource
Recently, Eagle Theatre partnered with Facebook, Inc. to be one of the official hosts of a Facebook Live event as part of International Women's Day, featuring a live panel of local Women Entrepreneurs.
