Experience the pageantry of the legendary kingdom of "Camelot." Playful Theatre Productions presents the Tony Award winning Lerner and Loewe classic at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre Fridays, Oct. 21 and 28 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Oct. 22 and 29 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Oct. 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew will follow the opening night performance on Oct. 21.

Audiences will be captivated by this tale of bravery, love, betrayal, and human frailty, woven into the rich tapestry of a time long past and set to an unforgettable musical score. Based on T.H. White's "The Once and Future King," the show takes place in Medieval England, where King Arthur, inspired by his lovely Queen Guenevere, establishes a new kind of court. The Knights of the Round Table, whose motto is "might for right," are dedicated to chivalry and high minded ideals. But the plot thickens as the handsome Sir Lancelot catches the queen's eye and others threaten to discredit the court and king. With his honor at stake and enemies lurking, King Arthur must make hard decisions as he attempts to keep his ideals alive. The original 1960 Broadway production starred Richard Burton and Julie Andrews and was the winner of four Tony Awards. It enjoyed several successful Broadway revivals; a film version was released in 1967.

Starring in "Camelot" are: Tom Bessellieu of Lawrenceville as Merlyn; Sean Downing of Lumberton as Pellinore; William Kamps of Burlington as King Arthur; Kami Matthews of Jenkintown, Pa., as Guenevere; Kevin Palardy of Doylestown, Pa., as Lancelot; Dominick Sannelli of Levittown, Pa., as Mordred; and Nicky Torchia of Langhorne, Pa., as Tom of Warwick.
