Columbia Bank of Oradell recently presented the Bergen County Players, also of the borough, with a $25,000 Community Investment grant. The money is being used towards BCP's refurbishment of its historic, renowned Little Firehouse Theatre on Kinderkamack Road.

Ana Vaz, branch manager of Columbia Bank (shown right), presented the check to BCP President Lynne Lupfer (left), on the theater stage.

This summer, the nonprofit, volunteer organization, heading into its 85th season, plans to provide fully refurbished, upholstered seats in the auditorium, as well as new carpeting, fresh paint in the auditorium and lobby, and new lighting, among other improvements. BCP has raised more than $75,000 towards the renovations as part of its "Take a Seat" campaign, which includes the grant money. A number of dedicated BCPers worked together on the grant application and were all incredibly excited and proud to receive it.

The Bergen County Players, named Community Theatre of the Year in 2015, has grown tremendously from its roots as a small community theater when it was founded in 1932; today, more than 300 volunteer members, working on and off stage, make possible the nine productions presented each season.
