Merry December, Drama Kids! This is the month in which we replace our mugs of throat coat with mugs of hot chocolate and sit in Holiday Cabaret techs for hours. Our celebrations are particularly shiny this time of year-so here comes a Songs That Sum Up With Lots of Tinsel.
1) "Seventeen" (Heathers) - Because on December 31st, 2017 is "gonna be with you tonight."
2) "All That Matters" (Finding Neverland) - What is really important this holiday is that you have a great, safe time, and that you get Hamilton tickets.
3) "Miracle of Miracles" (Fiddler on the Roof) - We celebrate so many beautiful miracles this season in religious and cultural holidays. I personally am celebrating the miracle of making it through this semester.
4) "The Second Goodbye" (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) - Because you're waiting to go home after the holiday party but your family keeps saying goodbye to your relatives over and over again.
5) "Razzle Dazzle" (Chicago) - With the colorful lights on houses and trees, the world seems to radiate.
6) "Do You Hear the People Sing" (Les Miserables) - ...Carols?
7) "Wait For It" (Hamilton) - Lots of us are anxious to see what's under the tree, but I don't want to wait. If I'm seeing Hamilton, I want to know now.
8) "Uh Oh" (The Color Purple) - Because for us senior theatre kids, college audition season is revving up.
9) "No One Is Alone" (Into the Woods) - Because if you aren't home these holidays, you aren't alone. I hope you remember that, this season, everyone becomes a family. (Also, you can always find a home in our beloved musical soundtracks.)
10) "Seasons of Love" (Rent) - What other title can describe this time of year?
I'm writing all my love for you all into this blog, and tons of hugs! Happy Holidays Broadway World!
