We can all agree that there's no season more hashtag aesthetic than autumn. But, as is for everything cool, you need a playlist to bring it full circle.

Following up Songs That Sum Up Summer, a piece I posted mid-August, here's a collection of musical theatre titles that fit into the Fall Collective, along with the flannel, leaves, comfortable temperatures, specialty coffees, and coziness.

Again: The content of most of these songs are not what I'm making the connections with, it's the titles.

1) "What'd I Miss" (Hamilton) - This is what we all said to our buddies as we removed our sunglasses, sauntering in on the first day of school, with a new organized backpack, and a cute outfit, and a commitment to slay this year.

2) "Masquerade" (Phantom of the Opera) - Because we definitely sing this note in the highest octave on October 31st.

3) "No Matter What" (Beauty and the Beast) - No matter what, you can't escape from autumn without have something Pumpkin Spice-flavored.

4) "Candy Store" (Heathers) - On Halloween Night, when my sister, cousins, and I spread out our sugar-loot on the basement floor and prepare for trading, it looks like a candy store.

5) "My Friend, The Dictionary" (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) - This brick becomes our bestie in English class, since we've forgotten lots of words from vegging out during the summer.

6) "Those Magic Changes" (Grease) - The way the leaves shift from verdant greens to bright yellows, crimson reds, and sunset oranges is like sorcery.

7) "It Won't Be Long Now" (In The Heights) - We don't have too much time until the new year. Hello 2017!

8) "Welcome to Our House on Maple Avenue" (Fun Home) - House-cleaning for Thanksgiving can begin as early as the Autumn Equinox. Time to sort through all the beach chairs and pool noodles and find the decorative pumpkins...

9) "Be Prepared" (The Lion King) - Brace yourself for the onslaught of the Holiday Season's merch and media as soon as the clock hits 12:00am on November 1st.

10) "Moving Too Fast" (The Last Five Years) - I'm not sure if this is just a personal thing, but autumn always seems like it's rushed. It has inconvenient juxtaposition, in between two seasons that are extremely culturally pertinent. Maybe that's why, as a society, we've come to love the fall. It's a little pocket of the year reserved for a transition out-of and into even larger celebrations. (And lots of new Broadway shows, too!!)

This fall brings a multitude of milestones to my school, our Drama Department, and Thespian Troupe 5480 (things I'll definitely report on!) Raise a PSL to these upcoming chilly and lively times!
