Mayo Performing Arts Center's 2013-2014 season goes on sale Monday, June 24 at 9 am. The annual season opening celebration will be held on Friday, October 11, with a performance by Natalie Cole.
Over 120 performances will be held on stage between July 2013 and June 2014. Highlights include a diverse theatre series featuring Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Tony-nominated BRING IT ON, Tony-Winning MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, ROCK OF AGES and Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT; contemporary performers such as Michael Bolton, Kenny Loggins, Michael W. Smith and Clint Black; classical artists including Sarah Chang and Itzhak Perlman, comedians including Drew Carey, Joan Rivers, Jason Alexander and Jim Belushi, and many more (see schedule below).
Other season highlights include The
Brian Setzer Orchestra's Christmas Rocks 10th Anniversary Tour!, the final Morristown performance by watermelon-smashing Gallagher as part of his farewell tour and PUPPET UP!, an adult-only improv comedy show done by puppets created by the Henson company.
Front of house construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of summer. MPAC will feature a renovated lobby with a new box office, new and larger restroom facilities, and an elevator to the balcony level.
