Black Box PAC announces the addition of a staged reading series to our 2018 season! LOW LIGHTS: A Staged Reading Series will showcase a variety of plays; from the classics you love to the contemporaries you didn't catch on Broadway. LOW LIGHTS will bring these stories, read by NJ and NYC professionals, to you at our home base in Teaneck, NJ.
The first play in this new Staged Reading Series is The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, translated by Christopher Hampton. Considered the first of Chekhov's four major plays, The Seagull dramatizes the romantic and artistic conflicts between four characters: the famous middlebrow story writer Boris Trigorin, the ingénue Nina, the fading actress Irina Arkadina, and her son the symbolist playwright Konstantin Tréplev.
The Seagull will be presented - in special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. - for one night only, on Saturday, March 3 at 8PM, at the Black Box Performing Arts: 200 Walraven Drive (just off Palisade Ave. GPS: 290 Walraven Drive) in Teaneck, NJ 07666. Tickets are just $10, in advance or, space remaining, at the door approx. ½ hour before showtime.
The Black Box Performing Arts Center continues to emerge as the Tri-State area's premiere destination for both cutting-edge professional theater and collaborative performing arts education - in the heart of Teaneck, NJ- just a quick ride over the George Washington Bridge. This season opened with a mains tage production of Hand to God by Robert Askins, followed by Shepard's Buried Child and Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt. Throughout the 2017/2018 season, BBPAC will continue to introduce a variety of new initiatives, including Junie B. Jones: The Musical in a new series of shows for kids. Following the The Seagull, LOW LIGHTS is scheduling a stage reading of The Cripple of Inishmaan and many more: www.blackboxpac.com
