An Opera Company presents DIE WALKÜRE (The Valkyrie) Trilogy at NJPAC ImageNew Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) Trilogy - An Opera Company. In Die Walküre, Wagner considers the deep but difficult relationship between gods and mortals in a dramatic tale of romance and revenge. The score of Die Walküre features the majestic "Ride of the Valkyries," arguably Wagner's most famous work, sure to be a highpoint of the evening. This staging is part of Trilogy's four-part Ring presentation, marking the first time that Wagner's entire masterpiece has been produced in New Jersey.

Acclaimed bass Kevin Maynor will portray Hunding, a role he has performed on stages across the U.S., South America and Europe. "There is a force-of-nature quality about (Maynor's) powerful, wide-ranging voice," says Opera News. The New York Times says that Maynor "dazzles with soft legato beauty," while American Record Guide describes his voice as "rock solid and very beautiful ... like a deep river in its strength and majesty.

Die Walküre is performed in German. A translation of Wagner's libretto in English will be provided. Trilogy: An Opera Company is a Newark-based, non-profit organization that "aims to produce high art evolving from the compositions and life stories of Black people."

See Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) on Sunday, March 18th at 7:00 PM, visit NJPAC.org or 888.GO.NJPAC (888.466.5722) or the NJPAC Box Office.
