Neil Simon's award-winning comedy Plaza Suite opens the 66th Season of Allenberry Playhouse from April 22 through May 10.

Hilarity abounds in this portrait of three couples successively occupying a suite at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. First presented on Broadway in 1968, Plaza Suite is one of Simon's most famous plays and a staple in American comedy.

Directed by Artistic Director Ryan Gibbs, the production stars Michael Iannucci, who returns to Allenberry after ten years, having appeared in the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof and Lanene Charters in the long-running Broadway smash hit Mamma Mia. Joining them onstage are Mechanicsburg's Erin Whitcomb (Allenberry's Ladies Night in a Turkish Bath) and Keland Alaka'i Sarno (Allenberry's Mame).

Three charming comedies, all in one show, are all set in Room 719 of New York City's Plaza Hotel. You'll love meeting a couple trying to rekindle the flame, a Hollywood Producer on the prowl, and a bride who has locked herself in the bathroom! "Allenberry Owner Jere Heinze spent time cutting his teeth early in his career working at the famous Plaza Hotel," said director Ryan Gibbs. "Plaza Suite hasn't been seen on the Allenberry stage in 30 years, we thought this piece a perfect fit."

Plaza Suite's creative team includes Artistic Director Ryan B. Gibbs as the Director and Lighting Designer, Darcy Bert (National Tour Peter and the Star Catcher) as Set Designer, Elizabeth Angelozzi as Costume Designer, Derek Mauldin as Sound Designer, and Kurt Alger (National Tour Les Miserables) as Wig and Make-up Designer. Fern Marie Aames serves as General Manager and Allenberry alum Tara Kelly returns as Production Stage Manager.

Allenberry Playhouse is proud to announce its fully renewed relationship with Actor's Equity Association, the professional Union for Actors and Stage Managers. In a continuing commitment to bring the very best in quality professional entertainment to Cumberland Valley and Central Pennsylvania, we have established an arrangement that supports both our local small business and a national labor union, and will employ both local and national union and non-union professionals in 2015. We couldn't be more excited!

In addition to "Plaza Suite," the season includes: "Shout! The Mod Musical" (May 13-June 14), "Damn Yankees" (June 17-July 19), Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific" (July 22-August 10), "The Fantasticks" (September 2-October 4), and "Sleuth" (October 7-31), a Tony-winning cat-and-mouse mystery from 1970 by Anthony Shaffer.

Allenberry has a history of being one of the first Equity Summer Theatres on the East Coast, dating back to when it opened its doors in 1949. Minus a brief absence from the union from 2006-2014, it has mostly been a union organization. Artistic Director Ryan Gibbs says, "It's the right thing to do for our business here at Allenberry, the local economy, and the theatre industry as a whole."

Plaza Suite will play the following performance schedule: matinees Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday at 1:00pm, evenings Thursday at 7:30pm and Friday and Saturday at 8:00pm, and Sunday matinees at 2:00pm. Tickets may be purchased by calling phone 717-258-3211, going online at Allenberry.com, or by visiting the Playhouse Theater Box Office in Fairfield Hall. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express accepted.
