All Female Comedy Show Debuts to a Packed House at Just Be You ImageAn all female stand-up comedy show invaded Edison, New Jersey on May 5, 2018, as part of a mother's day celebration. Hosted by Just Be You Performing Arts, the event took place at the historic Edison Valley Playhouse in Edison, New Jersey. The evening was packed with live vocal performances, a runway fashion show, and the debut of the organization's all female stand-up comedy showcase. Due to the success of this show, a follow up showcase will be held this summer.

All Female Comedy Show Debuts to a packed house:

Fearless and outspoken stand-up comic, Vernita Bostick, headlined the show on May 5th, and brought down the house. Her funny stories about being a school teacher had the moms in the audience cracking up with laughter.

"I thank Just Be You Performing Arts for asking me to headline. I had a great time! I think the audience did too! I look forward to more shows with them in the future," said Bostick.

The show also featured multi-talented stand-up comic, Candace Kelley. The diverse audience enjoyed her one-of-a-kind take on politics and pop culture. Candace is also a writer, producer, journalist, and entreprenuer.

The show's guest star, female stand-up comedian, Leslie Battle, traveled from Columbus, Ohio, to be in the show. Her humorous stories about life as a soldier, a mom, and a divorcee' was well received and enjoyed by the packed house.

To provide a platform for aspiring female comics, the event featured an open mic segment. New York and New Jersey comedians: Shari Linick, Sophia Gutchinov, Amy Veltman and Deanna Kobus, along with Chinwe Onyenekwu, all the way from Louisiana, each took the mic with confidence. The audience laughed out loud to their unique styles of stand-up comedy.

"I gained an opportunity to showcase some jokes and stories that I've been working on for a while. I gained new insight into stand-up and was inspired," said Gutchinov.

The event was directed and produced by working mom and producer; Mahogany Reynolds-Clarke, the creator of the innovative comedy show, "Cracking Up In Rahway".

"This was a fantastic showcase of tremendously talented women in comedy. In an industry that is male dominated, I am more than happy to provide a forum for female stand-up comics. Can't wait until the next show," said Reynolds-Clarke, founder and executive director of Just Be You Performing Arts.

In addition to the comedy showcase, the event featured a dazzling fashion show, and live vocal performances, by a Just Be You Performing Art student.
