This delightful faced paced romp through the Hitchcock classic movie and homage to the Hitchcock genre will be presented by Theater To Go in collaboration with Pierrot Productions at Kelsey Theater in West Windsor, NJ from Jan 31 - Feb 9, 2014.
This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning play is one part Monty Python, one part Hitchcock thriller and one part Ringling Brothers. Patrick Barlow's comical adaptation of "The 39 Steps," is a rapid fire, often hilariously irreverent re-creation of Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 classic mystery thriller film. The 39 Steps will keep you laughing in the aisles as a cast of four actors, against all odds, breathlessly and hilariously attempt to re-enact all of the characters, locations and famous scenes in Hitchcock's film thriller with just a few props and a lot of theatrical ingenuity and split second quick changes. Our leading man, Richard Hannay, meets a mysterious woman at a London music hall who asks for his help in uncovering a spy ring and thus entangles him in a web of murder, espionage and intrigue which keeps him running from the authorities to uncover the truth about "The 39 Steps". Along the way he meets an assortment of characters played by 2 actors who switch personas at breakneck speed. All of this makes for a wonderful evening of laughs and suspense. And listen carefully to hear hidden references to some of Hitchcock's most memorable movies.
