The countdown to Christmas is on at Music Mountain Theatre! The highly anticipated production of A Christmas Story, The Musical opens Friday, November 9 and runs through Sunday, November 25.

Set in the 1940's in the fictional town of Hohman, Indiana, the musical follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts-an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. A Christmas Story, The Musical will bring an exciting new dimension to those who have seen the movie and will certainly stand on its own for those who haven't. All of the movie's classic references are even more exciting with song and dance; including a musical rendition of the catch-phrase, "you'll shoot your eye out!" and a dazzling musical tribute to the movie's iconic leg-lamp.

Starring as Ralphie Parker is 11-year-old Skyler Carter of New Hope. He was last seen on the MMT Mainstage as Winthrop in The Music Man. He is also a student at MMT's Theatre School. Skyler is very thankful to be working with such a great cast and crew. His favorite part of this experience being surrounded by their kindness and support.

Taking on the role of Jean Shephard, the story's narrator, is Michael Moeller. Michael has been seen onstage at MMT in Hairspray and The Producers and he directed Curtains and Oklahoma!.

Also starring as Ralphie's Old Man, Mother, and little brother, Randy, are Louis Palena, Molly Skelly, and Finn Grushow. MMT Resident Company members Jaimie Geddes and David McCloughan are featured as (Miss) Shields and Santa.

A Christmas Story, The Musical is directed by Anna Hentz, who was last seen onstage as Carmen Bernstein in Curtains, but has had a 25-year career as a director in educational theatre. Hentz encourages audiences to come out to see this MMT all-star cast in a "must-see" for all who want to revisit their childhood, explore the magic of Christmas, and share in the humorous and nostalgic moments of this iconic classic. Co-Artistic Director of MMT Jordan Brennan serves as choreographer.

MMT will offer a Relaxed performance of A Christmas Story, The Musical on November 17 at 3pm. Often called "sensory performances," relaxed performances are designed to create a performing arts experience that welcomes patrons with autism or sensory sensitivities. They aim to remove the "hidden social rules" present in cultural events and make the theatre-going experience accessible to all families.

In the spirit of giving and supporting the arts in the Hunterdon community, Music Mountain Theatre will be sharing the holiday spirit with kettle donations for an arts program entitled "Joyful Noises" sponsored by The Salvation Army.

Don't miss this Christmas classic right here in Lambertville! Performances run November 9 through 25 with Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 3pm. Tickets are $25 for adults and $23 for seniors and students and are available online at www.musicmountaintheatre.org or by calling the box office at 609-397-3337.
