On Saturday April 27th, 2019, the 3rd Annual NJ Junior Theater Celebration is set to take place at Harrington Middle School in Mt. Laurel, NJ at 9am in the school's auditorium. Based on a program designed and created by iTheatrics, a leading musical theater education company based in NYC, the Celebration brings together high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and community organizations from all over the region to perform selections from their musicals for adjudication, attend workshops, and celebrate their artistic accomplishments. Leading the workshops and adjudication will be the team from iTheatrics, who also lead similar Celebrations in both Charlotte, NC and Buffalo, NY.
"We are so excited to be able to partner with iTheatrics and continue to bring school and community children's musical theater groups together and celebrate the shows they are doing, performing for each other and celebrating them as individuals and as groups," says co-producer Anne Kessler.
At last year's celebration there were nine programs representing three states and had over three hundred participants performing excerpts from their musicals. In addition to performing and taking part in workshops, the participants also were able to take part in a discussion along with a Q&A with Broadway legend and 2017 Isabelle Stevenson Award winner Baayork Lee. In the first year of the Celebration, the special guest was Jacob Brent, Broadway performer and best known as Mr. Mistoffelees in Cats on Broadway, London and DVD.
If you have a high school program or Thespian Troupe, middle school or elementary school program or a community youth theater program that is interested in attending this year's Celebration or have questions about it, please contact Mr. Spencer Lau or Mrs. Anne Kessler at njtheatercelebration@gmail.com
