Rockin’ 4 Vets brings its Rock n’ Roll Circus to the Claremont Opera House on Saturday March 22 at 7:00 PM, for a Veterans benefit event to support Rolling Thunder – Chapter 2 NH, the local branch of the national organization, Rolling Thunder, Inc.
The show will feature two Boston transplants and New England music legends whose performances you may have witnessed on stages across the US, ranging from nightclubs to arenas and stadiums, over the past several decades. Blues legend James Montgomery, (Johnny Winter Band) hails from Michigan and settled in Boston in the 60’s as a student at Boston University, building a reputation as a great showman backed by a band of outstanding musicians, who were signed to a major record label and off and running opening for bands such as Aerosmith, the Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac, among others. Guitar great Jon Butcher came to town in the early 70’s and established himself as a killer performer, forming, among other bands the Jon Butcher Axis releasing records on both Polydor and Capitol Records, who beyond their New England base opened on US tours for acts such as J Geils and Def Leppard. Adding to the line-up is recent Connecticut Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Jeff Pitchell, known for his performances and recordings with the likes of the Rock Hall of Fame performers the Allman Brothers Band, Dave Mason (Traffic) and Clarence Clemmons (Bruce Springsteen); among a long list of others.
Finally, to complete this stellar line-up is the trio of Danny Klein, known as “the Ace on Bass”, a founding member of Boston’s legendary and globally renowned, J. Geils Band, Kevin James Graham, who performed on the recent season of NBC’s “the Voice” and finally Kate Russo, a long-time member of Big Brother & the Holding Company; the launching pad for Janis Joplin and one of the historic Summer of Love bands from San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury.
Rolling Thunder is a national organization with local chapters in almost every state in the nation. It’s primarily known for its involvement with the POW/MIA mission, but is not limited to it, exclusively. Rolling Thunder is heavily involved in assisting Vets who upon separation from the military suffer from issues caused by and related to PTSD, addiction, homelessness, and issues related to their quality of life. They endeavor to serve those who served us honorably.
Reserved seating tickets may be purchased on the Opera House website at www.cohnh.org. The show will also include a limited number of front-of-house VIP Meet & Greet tickets, which allow early admission and an opportunity to interact with the artists, prior to the show, for photos and an autographed event poster.
