Ernest Thompson will revisit his own On Golden Pond as both director and leading actor at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse this June in a rendition which he says will show the figurative rocks beneath the deceptively bucolic surface of the lake and how harrowing the journey can be."As director, Thompson will be revisiting the celebrated play he wrote decades earlier, with the intent of deconstructing it; stripping it down to its original intent this time from the inside out. And in portraying Norman, Thompson says I consider it an honor to follow in the footsteps of thousands of actors who have preceded me. Included in that are the first Norman, Tom Aldredge, from the NY premiere, to Henry Fondas Academy Award-winning film portrayal, as well as Christopher Plummers brilliant turn in a televised (and Thompson-directed) production. Not to mention the Normans on six continents who have performed and continued to -- in at least 30 languages since the play was first published.Joining Thompson in this production are Lisa Bostnar as Ethel, Anna Rock as Chelsea, Adam Kee as Bill Ray, Landon Shaw as Charlie, and Cody Hodgins as Billy Ray.Performances run June 12-22 at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse, Meredith, NH, and opens the professional summer season there which includes Moon Over Buffalo, Avenue Q, Chicago, Guess Whos Coming to Dinner, and California Suite.
