Alfred Hitchcock's first all-talkie thriller and Britain's first all-talkie movie was a major box office hit and was voted best movie of the year for 1929. Time Out magazine ranked it 59th best British film of all time in a 2017 poll.
London, 1929. Frank Webber, a very busy Scotland Yard detective, seems to be more interested in his work than in Alice White, his girlfriend. Feeling herself ignored, Alice agrees to go out with an elegant and well-mannered artist who invites her to visit his fancy apartment.
Watch for Hitchcock's trademark cameo early in the film!
