Tickets for this year's TEDxPortsmouth event, which will take place at The Music Hall on Friday, September 7th, will go on sale to the public on Friday, July 27th. Tickets will be available online starting at 10am at themusichall.org and through the Box Office when it opens on noon that day. Tickets for the 2017 TEDx event sold out in less than two hours.
This will be TEDxPortsmouth's first year at its new location of The Music Hall Historic Theater at 28 Chestnut Street in Portsmouth, which is allowing organizers to triple seating capacity. TEDxPortsmouth is also a new name for the event, which was called TEDxPiscataquaRiver for its first five years. Previous events have been held at 3S Artspace and St. John's community hall, both in downtown Portsmouth.
"Moving to The Music Hall is allowing us to more than triple the number of tickets we can make available to the community this year," said TEDxPortsmouth organizer and licensee Crystal Paradis. "This move enables us to better fulfill our mission to spread the ideas shared on our stage as far as possible throughout our community."
""The most common piece of feedback we've received last year was, 'My friend/coworker/neighbor/mom/uncle wanted to come too, but they couldn't get a ticket!'" said co-organizer and co-curator Anna Goldsmith. "Well, mark your calendars for July 27th, Portsmouth - this year is your best chance yet to get a ticket!"
Even with the increased capacity, organizers expect the event to sell out quickly, and all interested in attending are encouraged to make the necessary arrangements to purchase tickets online at 10am on Friday, July 27th.
The theme of this year's event is "That was Then," and the full-day program contains over a dozen speakers spanning a wide variety of topics and industries, and will feature several multidisciplinary performances, several engaging breakout activities, curated TED talk videos and pre- and post-event receptions for its 650+ attendees. Speakers and performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Tickets are $75 and include the full day of programming, a lunch meal, networking and break activities, morning and afternoon refreshments, and admission to the on-site after-party/reception. Limited student and senior tickets will also be available at $50. Those not able to attend in person can view the event live online at www.tedxportsmouth.com.
TEDx attendees typically include community leaders and decision-makers from across business, nonprofit, tech, education and local government sectors; students from area high schools and colleges; and representatives from TEDxPortsmouth partners, sponsors and team members who share TEDx's commitment to Ideas Worth Spreading.
