Weekend Writers Productions will present "Headshots" by Lawrence Hennessy at The Players' Ring, 105 Marcy Street, Portsmouth N.H., as part of their Late Nite Summer Series. ShowTime's are 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 9 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $12 general admission with discounts for members, students and seniors. To reserve, visit www.playersring.org or call 603-436-8123.

"Headshots" consists of four actors presenting eight different short plays, all solo pieces. Not exactly monologues, not exactly soliloquies, "Headshots" offers a unique method of presenting "one actor" shows. While each act is different in both style and substance, all of the "Headshots" revolve around a central question, namely; "who is helping, and who is being helped?" From the burned out shrink who sees three hundred patients a week, to the alcoholic nurse who believes she has the power to read mens' minds, "Headshots" offers a view of humanity that runs deeper than titles or appearances, to that curious nether region referred to as, "affairs of the head." Sometimes humorous, and sometimes horrifying, "Headshots" consistently questions the assumption that there is such a thing as normal, clear headed thinking.

Author, Lawrence Hennessy and Director Deb Barry will be teaming up for their third presentation with "Headshots," having worked before on "Without Walls" (2013) the play where a baseball announcer confesses to a murder in the middle of broadcasting a game; and "The Myth of the Father" (2014), the first and only play in human history to present the dramatic conflict between Oedipus Rex and his father. In the finest "Late Nite" tradition of The Players' Ring, "Headshots" promises to not only think outside of the box, but to think outside of the box that the box came in.

Although the Late Nite presentation of "Headshots" will be its' world premier, it has been work shopped at both the Boston Playwrights Platform as well as the Weekend Writers Group of the Actors Studio of Newburyport. Last September a staged reading was performed at the Ring by Generic Theater which received very positive feedback.
