It is time to celebrate The 12th Annual "Set The House on Fire" a gospel concert, created by Newington, NH resident Sandi Clark, This years concert will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010, 7pm at the Newington Town Hall in Newington, NH located across the street from the Fire Dept. on 205 Nimble Hill Rd just off the Spaulding Turnpike, Exit 4 (Shattuck Way / Nimble Hill Rd).

Seacoast artist, Sandi Clark produced the first concert on February 7, 1999, four months prior to the NH Bill (June 7, 1999) that addEd Martin Luther King Dir to what was known as Civil Rights Day. Over the past 11 years, Sandi has brought some incredible talent to the area and this year will be no different.

Brining the heat to the night is headliners' The Faithful Harmonize Jrs. from NYC. This family of female voices will fill the room with their incredible soulful accapella, harmonizing sound. Valerie one of the members said, "Our parents were singing in a group known as the Faithful Harmonize Srs and we traveled with them. With them to other churches across the boroughs, as well as other states. While traveling with them we would be introduced by them as the Faithful Harmonize Jrs,the name stuck.

The group has been performing for thirty years. They started out as an accapella group
occasionally now they may be accompanied by pianist Ivey Paige or organist Robert Wilson.

This years inspirational message will be delivered by Don Moses of Saco Me and Fredric Taylor of Rollinsford NH.

Back by popular demand as Mistress of Ceremonies (do you need to ask), is someone who has earned and deserves to be called the "Queen" of Blues/Jazz- Sharon Jones.
"Set The House On Fire" a gospel concert continues to focus on peace, looking towards the future for our youth and following the mission of Jukwaa Mazoa by "building commonality in community through performance" says Sandi Clark.

Also back by popular demand, under the direction of Jim White, The Funky Divas of Gospel will continue heating the evening up as they have for several years.

Of course, the gospel concert would not be complete without the "Set The House On Fire" band featuring Sandy Casey on vocals. With a mix of the regulars like James "Batman" Kaddy on drums, Scip Gallant on Hammond B3, Rev Jeff Mcllwain of North Star AME Zion church on Vocals and Bass, Frank Grynde on Guitar, Kent Allyn on Keyboard with a special appearance by Charlie Jennison on Sax. The STHOF Band will provide the pre show waking in music for the early birds.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the NAACP's Nathaniel Holloway Scholarship Fund. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has a long history of advocating and promoting the educational advancement of students who have historically been underrepresented in post-secondary education. The NAACP Seacoast Branch supports this tradition locally by awarding scholarships to deserving students who are residents of the seacoast region of New Hampshire and Maine. Three seacoast students received NAACP's Community Scholarships in 2007. For more information about the scholarship program or an application please visit www.SeacoastNaacp.com.
