The Seacoast Repertory Theatre is set to open Guys & Dolls, the first show of its 2015 season, on Friday February 6th. The Pulitzer-winning musical will be the first mainstage show produced by the theater's interim management team, and the first of seven Mainstage productions in the 2015 season.

Considered by many to be one of the greatest musical comedies ever written, Guys & Dolls tells the story of gamblers in New York as they try to scrape together the funds they need to run a game of craps at a local garage. The charismatic Nathan Detroit thinks he can get the craps game going, provided he can keep the cops away, keep his girlfriend Adelaide happy, and win the funds off of Sky Masterson, who will bet on anything. Hilarity ensues as the story moves from the streets of New York to the slums of Havana and back again.

Guys & Dolls is directed and choreographed by Taryn Herman with musical direction by Kathy Fink. The production stars Scott Caple as Nathan Detroit, Gabby Archambault as Sarah Brown, Ryan Salvato as Sky Masterson, and Linette Miles as Adelaide.

"As casting for this production was taking place, I mentioned that I really wanted an eclectic group of guys, and that's exactly what we got!" says Herman. "The whole ensemble is really coming together to create these interesting, fun characters and they're going to end up telling a great story. The energy in every rehearsal is so upbeat and ready to work, and it bleeds on to the stage."

All principle roles are cast with local performers.

"We wanted to use as much local talent as we could for this show," says Interim Artistic Director, Miles Burns. "With the outpouring of support we've received from the community in the last few months, we wanted to turn around and showcase the depth of talent that exists right here on the Seacoast."

The professional Mainstage show will be produced simultaneously with a separate youth production of Guys & Dolls presented by The Rep's Portsmouth Academy of Performing Arts. PAPA students have been rehearsing in conjunction with the professional cast in an effort to more aggressively pursue the educational facet of The Rep's mission. The collaboration was made possible by generous grants from Hannaford Supermarkets and the Rosamond Thaxter Foundation.

"It's great to be able to get our students and professionals together. The kids are working harder and advancing faster; it's a really great opportunity for them," says Alden Caple, Director of the PAPA production.

Guys & Dolls Main Stage runs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm*, and Sundays at 2pm from February 6th to March 8th. The PAPA production runs Saturday Feb 14th, 21st, 28th and March 7th at 2pm and March 7th at 8pm. Tickets to both shows are available through the Seacoast Rep Box Office, or online at www.seacoastrep.org. The 2015 Seacoast Repertory Theatre's Season is sponsored in part by Bondgarden Farms, New Hampshire Public Television, and Portsmouth Public Media.
