We may not all believe in ghosts, but it's a known fact that nothing will haunt us more than awkwardness of puberty. No one is safe from horrible pictures, fashion choices, and young obsessive love. As the Halloween season approaches, Seacoast Repertory Theatre gears up for its scariest fundraiser ever; I Could Just Diary; Teen Angst: Live Onstage! Featuring more than 15 local actors, writers, and notable personalities all reading their worst, most embarrassing, most awkward journal and diary entries all for the sake of Seacoast Repertory Theatre on October 30th, 2013 at 7:30pm.
This unique and hilarious event is part of Red Light, The Rep's alternative programming series. All proceeds from the evening will go directly to Seacoast Repertory Theatre. "The notion of reading your most personal writings as a youth, intimidates most, but it's all in good fun" says Knate Higgins, special series curator for The Rep. "It was astonishing to see how many people kept their writings, and were willing to share them with me and the other organizers, (Joi Smith and CJ Lewis) Almost everyone we reached out to said 'I have something terrible for you! It'll be great.'"
The featured readers for I Could Just Diary range from actor to writer, bar manager to bouncer, comedian to ballerina, proving that no one can out run their awkward history. The featured readers for I Could Just Diary are: Very Special Guest: Rae Dawn Chong, with Mark Adams, Chris Bradley, Kathleen Cavalaro, E. Christopher Clark, Molly Dowd Sullivan, Sarah Duclos, Nickie Fuller-Farr, Knate Higgins, Todd Hunter, Phil Kliger, John Lessard, CJ Lewis, Grady O'Neil, Crystal Paradis, Joi Smith, Ashleigh Tucker, andConstance Witman.
"I wish I had kept a diary in High School, it would make for some great stories..." says Craig Faulkner, Artistic Director. "I think this is a terrific idea, and I can't wait to see it".
