A dark musical comedy, Chicago delivers the answers to the questions above, along with steamy dancing and powerhouse vocals. We follow Velma Kelley (Christine Dulong) and Roxie Hart (Jessi Trauth*), two murderesses with only one thing in common; they both killed in a moment of passion to obtain fame. Set in the roaring 20's, the city of Chicago is the backdrop to the jazz-laden, booze-filled decadence of the times. Hilarity and tongue-in -cheek court room drama ensue as the ladies of the Cook County Jail fight for their "innocence".
The cast shimmies and sparkles with Michael Karraker (Billy Flinn), Jamie Bradley (Amos Hart), Scottie McLaughlin* (Mary Sunshine), Ashley Kelley(Matron "Mama" Morton). A true ensemble show, the dancers and shakers include Jenny Taylor, Rebecca Rudolph, Corrine Tork, Jennie McGuiness, Lauren Kay, Joe Meallo, Jeremy Abram, James Avance, and Nick Madson.
Directed and Choreographed by Brian Swasey, who brought some of the Rep's most beloved musicals to life (Altar Boyz, RENT, Hairspray), Chicagopromises to be a wild trip into the seedy, and scintillating era of when vaudeville was king, and all you needed was a spotlight to guide you into salvation.
