The River Street Theatre (RST), a project of The Park Theatre, will be presenting the Royal Shakespeare Company production of Titus Andronicus on Sunday, September 24 (1:30 pm & 6:30 pm) and Monday, September 25 (1:30 pm). The presentation is part of the RST's Stage2Screen Series. The play was filmed in ultra high definition in Stratford-upon-Avon, England on August 9, 2017.
When a society is oppressed, it becomes violent. How do we govern ourselves? In the chaos and disorder of 2017, Titus Andronicus is a commentary on the way this world could be going.
Titus has returned from a brutal 10-year war having lost 21 sons in battle. Betrayed by his nation, and with his family in pieces, a series of bloody events follows as he and Tamora, Queen of the Goths begin a violent cycle of revenge. Rape, cannibalism, mutilation, and murder are the gruesome tools in Shakespeare's bloodiest play.
Blanche McIntyre (The Two Noble Kinsmen 2016) directs David Troughton (Grantchester, Dance with a Stranger, All The King's Men), in this chillingly contemporary Titus Andronicus.
Tickets are $20 each (students & teachers $15). More program and schedule information, as well as ticket purchases, can be found at riverst.org or by calling the RST Box Office (603) 532-8888. The after hours box office can be reached by calling OvationTix at (866) 811-4111.

Stage2Screen event cinema includes HD screenings of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Kenneth Branagh Theatre Live, Stratford Festival, StageRussia and The Royal Opera & Royal Ballet. Finally, for live programming, the RST presents plays, music, stand-up comedy, magicians, and readings. It makes the claim, "New England's Smallest Theatre... and proud of it." The RST promises programming that is always entertaining, innovative and fresh. Located at the heart of New Hampshire's Mount Monadnock, the RST is a 95-minute drive from downtown Boston.
