In honor of Valentine's Day, the River Street Theatre in Jaffrey will be presenting a double-feature evening of two classic romantic films. For one $8.00 ticket, you can see Royal Wedding and Made for Each Other. The double-feature begins at 6:30pm on Wednesday, February 14.

In addition, if you buy your tickets in advance, you will receive a discount of $5.00 off your Valentine's Day special early dinner bill at Sunflowers Café in Jaffrey. The dinner starts at 5pm. Also, Daffodil's Flowers of Jaffrey will be giving away 2 gift certificates in a drawing during the intermission between the movies. It's a perfect romantic evening for lovers of all ages.

Royal Wedding was one of MGM's grand musical films the 1950s. It stars Fred Astaire and Jane Powell. The plot has Astaire and Powell heading to Merrie Olde England to perform at the palace. Once they've arrived, Powell breaks up the act when she falls in love with blueblooded Peter Lawford. The film features two of Astaire's most famous solo dances: the hat-rack duet and the now-legendary tap-dance on the ceiling. The story and screenplay, as well as the lyrics, are by Alan Jay Lerner (Brigadoon, My Fair Lady, Camelot). The music was composed by Burton Lane (Finian's Rainbow, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever). It received an Oscar nomination for the song "Too Late Now."
James Stewart and Carole Lombard star in Made for Each Other, the 1939 comedy-drama about the struggles of a young married couple directed by John Cromwell (The Prisoner of Zenda, Of Human Bondage, Dead Reckoning). Stewart and Lombard play a recently married couple, Jane and John Mason. John works as an attorney for the law firm of skinflint Judge Doolittle (Charles Coburn). Doolittle calls John back to work immediately after the wedding ceremony, forcing the couple to abandon their honeymoon. The screenplay for Made for Each Other was written by Jo Swerling, a co-writer of It's a Wonderful Life. It was produced by David O. Selznick (Gone with the Wind).

Team Jaffrey's "P.S. I Love You" Valentine's Day promotion is a sponsor of the double-feature evening along with Sunflower's Café and Daffodil's Flowers.
Tickets for the Valentine's Day Double-Feature are $8.00 each with no further discounts.
