The River Street Theatre (RST), a project of The Park Theatre, will be presenting the Stage Russia HD/Vakhtangov Theatre production of Alexander Pushkin's Eugene Onegin this Sunday & Monday, September 17 & 18 at 1:30 pm each day. The presentation is part of the RST's Stage2Screen Series.

The play unfolds in the memory and imagination of Pushkin's (1799-1837) characters. The images are split between past and present, between reality and imagination. The scale of the production constantly shifts from noisy celebrations to secluded contemplation, from crowd scenes to lonely recollections, all of which are drawn together from the past just like the fragments of Tatyana's love letter, framed and hung on the wall, looming next to and above Onegin's arm-chair.

Filmed in high definition before a live audience at Moscow's venerable Vakhtangov Theatre. In Russian with English subtitles.

Tickets are $20 each (students & teachers $15). More program and schedule information, as well as ticket purchases, can be found at riverst.org or by calling the RST Box Office (603) 532-8888. The after hours box office can be reached by calling OvationTix at (866) 811-4111.

The River Street Theatre is located in downtown Jaffrey, New Hampshire at 6 River Street. The River Street Theatre is sponsored by Grove Street Fiduciary, Coca-Cola, the Board of Trustees of the Park Theatre, Janet S. Grant, Betty Locke, Owen Houghton and the James F. & Fernande Kelly Charitable Trust.
