During the month of February, the Players' Ring Theatre invites you to a night of classic theater and the opportunity to support a worthy cause. On February 12th, Sophocles' classic tragedy "Antigone" takes the stage. Shows run from February 12th to 28th at the Players' Ring Theater, 105 Marcy Street, Portsmouth, NH with show times at 8pm Fridays and Saturdays and 7pm Sundays, with a 2pm matinee on the 28th. Tickets cost $15 with discounts available for Players' Ring members, students, and seniors. To reserve you ticket, please visit www.playersring.org or call 603-436-8123.

"Antigone" is regarded as one of the most important works of Western theater. Sophocles' play tells the story of a zealous young woman who defies her uncle's royal edict to mourn and bury her traitorous brother resulting in dire consequences. The show, directed by Bretton Reis ("Eurydice," "Marat/Sade"), offers an updated, theatrical approach to the ancient text. In addition to a memorable performance theater goers will help raise funds for the Players' Ring. The play's cast and crew have decided to forfeit their stipends for the show. All proceeds will directly benefit the theater. This generous donation of talent comes at a welcome time, as the Players' Ring hopes to continue renovations on its aging building.

The accomplished cast includes Marilyn Keith Daly, Cullen DeLangie, Jordan Formichelli, Kristen Henrick, Tomer Oz, Matthew Schofield, James Sears, Samantha Smith, Jimmy Stewart, and Molly Dowd Sullivan.

"The Ring" provides an environment where artists can thrive, grow, take risks and make daring choices.
