The River Street Theatre (RST), a project of Jaffrey's Park Theatre, will be exclusively presenting the Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) new production of Shakespeare's classic comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor on Sunday, October 7 and Columbus Day Holiday, Monday, October 8 (both at 2 PM). The presentation is part of the RST's Stage2Screen Series.

The world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company of England has produced a new version of Shakespeare's hilarious comedy of suburbia, wives and over-inflated egos, The Merry Wives of Windsor. First published in 1602, the story surrounds Sir John Falstaff (David Troughton) as he plans to hustle his way to comfortable retirement by seducing the wives of two wealthy men. But it's the women of Windsor who pull the strings and in a world of wealth, glamour and 'well jel' wives, they finally tell Sir John to 'shut up.' The only way is Windsor in this outrageous and fun-filled new version, directed by Fiona Laird.

The production was filmed live and in high-definition as it was staged at the RSC's theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon on September 12, 2018.

Tickets for The Merry Wives of Windsor are $20 each (students & teachers $15). More program and schedule information, as well as ticket purchases, can be found by visiting www.RiverSt.org or by calling the RST Box Office (603) 532-8888. Group sales may also call the box office for special rates. The after hours box office can be reached by calling OvationTix at (866) 811-4111.

The River Street Theatre is located in downtown Jaffrey, New Hampshire at 6 River Street. The River Street Theatre is sponsored by Grove Street Fiduciary, Coca-Cola, the Board of Trustees of the Park Theatre, Janet S. Grant, Betty Locke, Owen Houghton and the James F. & Fernande Kelly Charitable Trust.
