New Hampshire Theatre Project kicks off the new year with Noel Coward's playful send-up of love and the afterlife, Blithe Spirit. A smash hit on Broadway and London's West End, Coward's self-described "improbable farce" is a delightful comic classic with a sexy ghost, an eccentric medium and an imperious man troubled by two wives, one of whom has been dead for seven years.
Blithe Spirit makes us laugh but we also wonder ~ what does happen to us at the end of this life? Is it truly possible to communicate with loved ones who have passed before us? The boundaries dividing known and unknown are constantly changing.
Featuring NHTP favorites Peter Motson, Kathy Somssich, Genevieve Aichele, Heather Glenn Wixson, Rob Becker, Becky Rudolf and, returning to the NHTP stage, Kate Kirkwood. With direction by Blair Hundertmark, costume design by Michele Macadaeg, sound design by Greg Sargent, lighting design by Quentin Stockwell, and scenic design by Cary Wendell, Blithe Spirit runs today, January 11-27, 2013.
Blithe Spirit is generously sponsored by Gail Adams Music Studio, Cornerstone Tree Care, Newmarket International, Pat Spalding, and Inkind Sponsors Teatotaller Tea House & When Pigs Fly.
