New Hampshire Theatre Project presents new adaptation of Dickens' classic Great Expectations, adapted by Gale Childs Daly, running November 18-December 4, 2016.

Packed with curious and fascinating characters, enchanting and dangerous places and situations that are at once exhilarating and horrifying, Gale Childs Daly's new adaptation brings the Dickens literary gem to fascinating life with six actors playing multiple roles. Bretton Reis as Pip is the sole actor performing a single role. The other five actors - Adam LaFramboise, Linette Miles, Matthew Schofield, James Stewart and Molly Dowd Sullivan - play approximately 40 other characters, and also double as narrators. This ensemble chamber theatre style is NHTP's trademark, both challenging and deeply rewarding.

Great Expectations tells the story of young Pip and his journey from poverty to wealth, with all his missteps along the way. Like Pip, we all make assumptions that are often proved to be untrue. We take people in our lives for granted. We try to force one outcome and end up with something very different. Charles Dickens' magnificent novel tells a journey of love and loss, hope and disappointment, poverty and wealth... all in the name of great expectations. Playwright Gale Childs Daly's unique story theatre style synthesizes a great classic work of literature into a rich and appealing theatrical experience.

Director Meghann Beauchamp will also design set and lights. Samantha Smith is designing the intricate costumes and SAra Martin stage manages. Great Expectations has been made possible through generous sponsorship by Kay & Mark Kimble, Chinburg Builders, and Threshold Stage Company.

New Hampshire Theatre Project is dedicated to creating compassionate community through the art of theatre. Now the sole tenants of West End Studio Theatre, NHTP is expanding their programming and is especially excited to support the work of emerging seacoast artists.
