New Hampshire Theatre Project Presents Joyce Andersen's Rogue Violin

New Hampshire Theatre Project at WEST is proud to present master musician Joyce Andersen in the Joyce Andersen Rogue Violin (& Soulful Sidekick Guitar) Revival Show, a common-grounding, freedom-sounding, joy-abounding Mother's Day weekend musical extravaganza. More sculpted and intentional than her usual concerts, Joyce created this one-woman revival show for NHTP and Mother's Day, for this moment in her life, for spring, and for this time in history that is calling us to shine bright. It's a glimpse into the journey and repertoire of a deep, improvisational, soulful and playful artist, mother, wife and seeker.

"It would be safe to say that Joyce is the greatest 'one man' woman show I've ever heard or seen. Joyce's performances are not to be missed!," says songwriting legend Eric Andersen. Master violin maker and fiddle maven Jonathan Cooper says, "Joyce Andersen, more than anyone I know of, has brought a new dimension to the violin, expanding its range while maintaining the original intent." The Portsmouth Herald hailed Joyce as a "folk/roots inspired songstress on one side, psychedelic shape-shifter on the other," and Wire NH said her work will "forever alter your perception of the violin." Concert promoter Stan Sullivan says, "By encore time, her talent and versatility told us that Joyce Andersen could sit in with Bob Dylan, Bela Fleck, The Chieftains, Loretta Lynn or Led Zeppelin."

Joyce Andersen has enjoyed performing music from the streets of Denmark to the Carnegie Hall stage. A New Hampshire native, Joyce's musical career, from side-gal to solo concert musician, started in Portsmouth and drew her to Boston, Nashville, New York City, and finally back to Olde York City, Maine where she married folk journeyman Harvey Reid. Joyce has made five solo CDs and at least as many with Harvey, and she is on countless recording sessions including albums with 1960's folk legend (no relation) Eric Andersen. Like her beloved instrument, Joyce has performed classical violin in gold-gilded theaters, and fiddled on streets all over the world.

As the mother of two school-age boys, Joyce celebrates Mother's Day as a tribute to the strength motherhood has given her powerful creative talent.
