New Hampshire Theatre Project Adds Gender-Bent THE ODD COUPLE to 2017-18 Season ImageWhile most audiences are familiar with Neil Simon's classic 1965 script, not many realize he wrote an updated version 20 years later for a specifically female cast. Kathleen Somssich and Genevieve Aichele star as the mismatched Florence Unger and Olive Madison in this endearing and high-spirited classic comedy. Instead of the poker party that begins the original version, Ms. Madison has invited the girls over for a game of Trivial Pursuit (and Mr. Simon gets more mileage out of those real 1980's Trivial Pursuit questions than we ever thought possible!) The upstairs Pidgeon sisters neighbors are replaced by the hilarious Constanzuela brothers, two "classy Spanish gentlemen in double-breasted suits." The Odd Couple - Female Version is a perfect opportunity to warm up the midwinter with laughter and friendship.

Robin Fowler directs his first MainStage production at New Hampshire Theatre Project. Supporting cast includes Helen Brock, Fred Calcinari, Diane Ficarra, Monique Peaslee Foote, Peter Josephson, and Kate Kirkwood. Production team includes set design by Hannah Joy Smith, lighting design by Meghann Beauchamp, costumes by Rachel Vilandre, and stage management by Mary Langley.

The Odd Couple - Female Version is sponsored by Gillian Aguilar, Harman Law Office, Diverse Networks LLC, Saunders & Silverstein LLP, and Chinburg Properties.

Based at West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth, New Hampshire Theatre Project is dedicated to creating compassionate community through the art of theatre.
