Strategic Storytelling (Ages 18 & up)
Mondays, 6-9pm September 13, 20, 27, 2010
Fee: $175 (Includes $25 registration fee)
Instructor: Genevieve Aichele
An intensive professional development workshop for those who want to communicate more effectively through story: teachers, performers, business owners, professionals in management, marketing, human resources, development and social services. Classes include techniques for public speaking, improving stage presence, improvisation, audience facilitation, crafting a presentation, and "finding the heart of your story." Attendance at all three sessions is recommended. Graduate credit is available through Plymouth State University; please inquire for details.
Shakespeare for Teens (Ages 13-17)
Thursdays, 5-6:30pm September 16, 23, 30, 2010
Fee: $125 (Includes $25 registration fee)
Instructor: Libby Page
This class explores the world of Shakespeare's texts and the role of the actor in bringing his verse to life. Students will learn to analyze his language and to use movement to develop a deeper understanding of his characters. The course will culminate in a performance of brief scenes from Shakespeare's most famous plays.
Story Theatre Workshop (Ages 8-12)
Wednesdays, 4-5:45pm September 15, 22, 29, 2010
Fee: $125 (Includes $25 registration fee)
Instructor: CJ Lewis
Students will learn acting skills, stage presence, and theatre terminology through story theatre, an ensemble performance technique based on children's literature, traditional tales, and original writing. This workshop will culminate with an applied demonstration of story theatre.
Creative Drama Workshop (Ages 5-7)
Mondays, 4-5pm September 13, 20, 27, 2010
Fee: $125 (Includes $25 registration fee)
Instructor: Rebecca Rudolf
This 3-week workshop introduces younger children to theatre with developmentally appropriate activities. Using dramatic play, story theatre and creative movement, children learn self-expression and social skills along with the basics of acting. The final class includes a short demonstration of activities for family and friends.
