This just in: The paranormal television show, Spirit Sniffers, will be coming to Derry, NH for a live taping at the haunted Blackwood Opera House. Owned by actress Florence Blackwood and her family, the Opera House closed in 1946 after a series of murders committed by the young actress. The spirit of Florence is rumored to still be wandering the Opera House and now you can join the Spirit Sniffers on location for their craziest investigation yet! The NH Theatre Factory presents Ghost Hunting: The Musical Murder-Mystery, an original musical comedy by Artistic Director Joel Mercier. Two paranormal investigators, the show's sleazy producer, a crack-pot psychic, and one nasty nun attempt to make contact with the spirit of Florence Blackwood. The taping goes from bad to complete disaster when not only does a ghostly sighting occur, but someone winds up dead! Was it the ghost or someone of flesh and blood who committed the murder? Comedy, mystery, musical numbers, special effects, and an audience-voted ending making each night a different performance creates the perfect Halloween event you won't soon forget!

Ghost Hunting will be performed by a cast of veteran actors including NH favorites Michael Gallagan, Nathan E. Barnes, Ellen Burger & Cathy McKay. Spearheading the cast is Katie Proulx in role of Florence Blackwood and George F. Piehl in the role of Malcolm St. Caruthers, the host & producer of Spirit Sniffers. Proulx, who was most recently seen as the Mute in the Winnipesaukee Playhouse's production of The Fantasticks, has many NY credits including Off-Broadway's Wet: Shakespeare. Piehl is most recognizable to NH audiences as Ebenezer Scrooge in the Palace Theatre's annual classic, A Christmas Carol, but his resume includes many notable New England Theaters including the Ogunquit Playhouse where he has played opposite Sally Struthers in several recent productions.

The NH Theatre Factory, a brand new Professional Theater Company in Southern NH, dedicates itself to three branches of operation: its Mainstage Shows, Education Training Program, & New Works Development. Ghost Hunting will be its premiere production taking place at the Derry Opera House in Derry, NH on October 18 - 20 & 25 - 27. The show will have scenic & Lighting Design by Wallace J. Pineault, Costume Design by Janet Dare, and will be directed by Artistic Direct and Writer, Joel Mercier. Mercier was most recently the Artistic Associate of the New London Barn Playhouse and is a 6-time winner of the NH Theatre Award.
