In conjunction with The Rep's mainstage production of A Christmas Carol, A Musical Ghost Story, The Rep's Youth Workshop production of Madeline's Christmas returns to delight the young and young at heart. After last year's sold out shows and high demand for more, The Rep Youth Workshop has added more shows, and more surprises to this year's production. Over 32 local children, divided into two casts are set to take on the ever popular holiday classic that some parents literally scramble to get tickets to. Under the direction of Robyn Barrows, and musical direction Miles Burns, the cast will be performing up to 6 shows a week for eager children and their families.
"In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines lived twelve little girls in two straight lines." So begins this classic Christmas tale with Madeline and all of her friends. This Christmas the girls have caught the flu! Well, all except for Madeline. Miss Clavel tells the girls that they will not be able to go home for Christmas until they are feeling better, so Madeline takes the lead and tries to make them all well again. With the help of a very mysterious carpet seller and a little bit of Christmas magic, she does just that.
In addition to this year's spectacular production, Madeline's Christmas is offering even more family friendly fun by turning its lobby into a winter wonderland. Santa and Mrs. Clause and they're magical elves have set up shop and will be on hand at each performance to greet children and take photos. Santa will be there in between each 11:30am show. Digital photos will be made while you wait for $10. Before every show, there will also be "Madeline's Holly Berry Brunch". A delicious brunch spread provided and generously donated by Serenity Café. Whimsical homemade Madeline ornaments will be on sale with all proceeds to benefit The Rep Youth Stage Program.
Madeline's Christmas runs Dec.10th-18th Saturdays and Sundays 9:30am and 11:30am. Tickets are $10. Seacoast Repertory Theatre, 125 Bow Street, Portsmouth, NH. For tickets please visit www.seacoastrep.org or call 603-433-4472.
