Judi Dench and Gillian Anderson are part of the all-star cast that came together at the Theatre Royal in London to celebrate the master musical composer Richard Rodgers (192-1979). This remarkable production, Some Enchanted Evening: Richard Rodgers Tribute Gala, will be screened at the River Street Theatre in downtown Jaffrey on Saturday, September 1 at 7pm and again on Wednesday, September 5 at 2pm.
This tribute gala celebrates the centenary of the birth of legendary Broadway composer Richard Rodgers. The performance includes songs, dance, staged numbers and anecdotes featuring leading stars from both Broadway and London's West End. The cast comprises of luminaries drawn from Oklahoma!, Kiss Me, Kate! Chicago, The King and I as well as other productions from television and the London stage, including Judi Dench, Sally Burgess, Kim Criswell, Gillian Anderson, Lesley Garrett, Maureen Lipman and Ruthie Henshall.
The concert features many of Rodgers' best loved classics: "Manhattan," "Some Enchanted Evening," "Johnny One-Note," "Getting to Know You," "Kansas City" from Oklahoma!, "I Have Confidence," "My Funny Valentine," "To Keep My Love Alive," "If I Loved You," "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Oklahoma!" One of many great highlights is the sight of a somewhat mature in years Judi Dench wearing pigtails and performing the most knowing and hilarious version of "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" ever seen on stage.
Tickets for Some Enchanted Evening: A Richard Rodgers Tribute Gala are $15 each. A discounted ticket of $13 is available for seniors, active military, students, and teachers. Group sales and private screening parties are also available.

Some Enchanted Evening: Richard Rodgers Tribute Gala is part of The Park Theatre's Summer Festival 2018.
The Park Theatre first opened in Jaffrey in 1922 and was the center of community life as a movie and vaudeville house for 54 years until it closed in 1976. Purchased by The Park Theatre, Inc. in 2006, it will be rebuilt as a state-of-the-art film and performing arts center, featuring two auditoriums seating 485, presenting movies, live theatre, including children's productions, concerts, and lectures as well as offering a place for business and community gatherings for the Monadnock Region and its 100,000 residents, school districts and dynamic artistic community. The new Park Theatre is scheduled for construction to begin in 2018.
The Park Theatre currently operates the River Street Theatre (RST), a small live entertainment and cinema venue, located adjacent to the construction site as an interim theatre until the new Park Theatre opens. Opened in January of 2017, the RST holds the title of "smallest theatre in New England."
