Conrad & Elizabeth, founding directors of Independent Eye Theatre (Sebastapol, CA), will offer a reading from their memoir, Co-Creation: Fifty Years in the Making. They'll also perform two comic repertory pieces, Dreamers, which introduced their first show in 1974, and Peace Negotiations, the clash of two old ladies at a Burger King.
In the course of their fifty years together, they have collaborated as performers, playwrights, radio producers, and puppeteers in bringing hundreds of stories to thousands of audiences nationwide, from high school gyms and prisons to major regional theatres and Off-Broadway venues. In Co-Creation, they tell their story--a chronicle of parenting, uprootings, hits & flops, spiritual searching, dancing naked around bonfires, strict accounting practices, and perpetual improvisation.
How do you raise two kids in the back of a Dodge van all over America? How do you make your living under the radar for decades, telling the stories you're burning to tell?
Conrad & Elizabeth tell all of it--or lots of it. It's about how a life of shared theatre-making shaped their marriage, and vice versa.
This event is Free of Charge. Following the presentation and audience talk-back, Conrad & Elizabeth will be available to sign copies of their book. Pontine's West End Studio Theatre is located at 959 Islington Street in Portsmouth, NH. For more information on Independent Eye Theatre, visit their website -- www.independenteye.org.
