The Weathervane Alumni Association invites you to attend a special concert benefit performance of the 2015 Broadway musical, It Shoulda Been You. The concert will star Weathervane alumni Leah Hocking (Mamma Mia, All Shook Up, Billy Elliott), Kirsti Carnahan (Kiss of the Spider Woman, Baby), Laura Hall (Wonderland), as well as Monica Rosenblatt in the role of Jenny Steinberg. The one-night-only benefit will raise funds for the Weathervane Alumni Association, whose mission is dedicated to enlarging creative and financial support for the Weathervane Theatre. The event will take place on Sunday, August 12 at 2:00pm at the Weathervane Theatre (389 Lancaster Road, Whitefield, NH 03598).
Joining Hocking, Carnahan, Hall and Rosenblatt, the special concert performance will also feature other Weathervane alumni including: Schyler Conaway, Simon Fortin, Wendy Hall, Shinnerrie Jackson, Francis Kelly, Timothy Breese Miller, Matt Rosell, Jed Shay, Bob Vernon and Jeff Zadroga. Alum and Weathervane's Resident Director, Diane DiCroce (Les Miserables) will serve as Director, with Andrew Morrisey as Music Director.
The charming and funny musical, which had its Broadway run in 2015, takes you to a wedding day that you'll never forget, where anything that can go wrong does, and love pops up in unexpected places. The book and lyrics are by Brian Hargrove, an alumnus from the Weathervane companies of 1977 and 1978, and the concept and music are by Barbara Anselmi, who has served as Music Director for several of the past alumni shows - the two first met in rehearsals for the 2005 benefit performance.
Tickets are $25, and are available at the Weatervane Theatre box office or by calling 603-837-9322. They may also be purchased online at www.weathervanetheatre.org.
The Weathervane Alumni Association, organized in 2000, numbers over 1,000 members each of who either performed or worked behind the scene supporting the performance of over 300 staged plays and musicals. The Alumni Association maintains the network of these alums and works to enlarge creative and financial support for the Weathervane Theatre. The proceeds of this performance all go to supporting that mission. Currently, the Alumni Association is engaged in raising funds for a plan to provide a landscaped gathering place for theatre patrons and the community outside the entrance to the theatre's South Lobby. The plans include engraved paving bricks, benches and lampposts as well as plantings to evoke the theatre's history and sense of place.
