Family Fun at the Players with PETER PAN and HANSEL AND GRETEL! ImageIn the coming weeks the Peterborough Players will present two productions that the entire family can enjoy as part of their ARTS ON SCREEN SEASON! And in the spirit of the season, the Players are offering discounted tickets for children.

This Saturday, November 25 at 1pm the Players present a special presentation of the NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE's production of PETER PAN by JM Barre. All children, except one, grow up... Captured live at the National Theatre, a recorded performance of JM Barrie's much-loved tale screens in cinemas. When Peter Pan, leader of the Lost Boys, loses his shadow, headstrong Wendy helps him to reattach it. In return, she is invited to Neverland, where Tinker Bell the fairy, Tiger Lily and the vengeful Captain Hook await. A riot of magic, music and make-believe ensues. A delight for children and adults alike, Sally Cookson (NT Live: Jane Eyre) directs this wondrously inventive production, a co-production with Bristol Old Vic theatre. This production is 2 hours and 30 minutes with one 20 minute intermission and is recommended for audiences 8 and up.

Then on December 9 at 11am, the Players will screen the METROPOLITAN OPERAS production of Humperdinck's HANSEL AND GRETEL. A Met English-language holiday presentation, Richard Jones's clever production of Humperdinck's fairy-tale opera is based on The Brothers Grimm story. Donald Runnicles conducts the sweeping score and a delightful cast, including the legendary Dolora Zajick as the wayward siblings' mother. Tara Erraught and Ingeborg Gillebo share the role of Hansel, and Lisette Oropesa and Maureen McKay share the role of Gretel. Show runs for 2 hours and 15 minutes and includes one intermission.

Single tickets to the PETER PAN are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets to HANSEL AND GRETEL are $25 for adults and $15 for children.
