Seacoast Repertory Theatre is proud to announce its newest edition to the Red Light series which will focus on the art of film. But this is not just any old art house film series, Let's "B" Reel: Cult Classic Films will focus on the art of the campy, the weird, and the downright fanatic. Let's "B" Reel will launch its first screening with the cult classic Creepshow October 23rd, 2013 7:30pm. Just in time for the Halloween festivities.
Headed by special series curator Knate Higgins, and co-directed by horror film composer extraordinaire, Timothy Fife, Let's "B" Reel promises to be more than just a sit down, watch a movie, eat some popcorn, theatre going experience. "We want to explore the model of celebrating the films in a more theatrical and intimate fashion. We will be offering a pre-show, bringing in industry professionals who worked on the film (when available) to give the audience an exclusive look at what it took to make the film..." says Knate Higgins, special series curator at The Rep.
After the success of Troma-Fest 2013 with cult film guru Lloyd Kaufman, it was no-brainer to continue and develop the series. The Press Room recently signed on to help sponsor the series and help bring the films to The Rep. "Press Room partnering with The Rep is like peanut butter and jelly, I don't know why it took us so long to partner up, I'm Thrilled!..."says Tristan Law, Press Room General Manager.
This unique way of experiencing a film is not new, it is just not done that often in the area. "I had both been to plenty of cult film screenings in Boston, New York, LA, but it was the ones that offered something more at the beginning and end of the screenings that caught our attention" says Timothy Fife. "...there is an untapped market here in Portsmouth, and on the seacoast for these types of films"
Creepshow will feature a live pre-show and will be hosted by Timothy Fife and drag queen co-host Bunny Wonderland (Higgins). Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can at the door, to make the event affordable and accessible to all. Donations are greatly appreciated.
