On Friday, March 30, The Music Hall's Writers in the Loft series presents #1 New York Times bestselling author and Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Anna Quindlen with her new novel, ALTERNATE SIDE. The book follows Nora Nolan, who, most days, thinks she and her husband Charlie live a charmed life in a tranquil village amid urban craziness. The owners watch one another's children grow up. They use the same handyman. They trade gossip and gripes, and they maneuver for the ultimate status symbol: a spot in the block's small parking lot. Then one morning, Nora returns from her run to discover that a terrible incident has occurred, shaking the community and opening the fault lines among Nora's neighbors, at her job, and in her marriage.
With crisp relief and sharp humor, Anna Quindlen rips the cover off of an idealistic façade and explores what it means to be a mother, wife, and woman at a moment of reckoning - all while showcasing her fiction prowess at its most brave, most heartbreaking, and most satisfying. The hour-long event will include an author presentation and Q&A moderated by Margaret Talcott, producer of Writers in the Loft.
The ticket package for Writers in the Loft: Anna Quindlen on Friday, March 30, at 7pm, is $42 ($40). In addition to a reserved seat, the package includes a copy of ALTERNATE SIDE ($28, hardcover), a bar beverage, author presentation, Q+A, and book signing meet-and-greet.
