An intoxicating idea of ??love with live music by the South African Tutu Puoane and rugged rhythms of Mauro Pawlowski (dEUS).
Since the beginning of mankind artists are inspired by love. Love is an inexhaustible source of joy, but also can cause scorching pain.
Wim Vandekeybus depicts the many faces of love in 'Speak low if you speak love', an intoxicating performance in which classical mythology and Shakespeare are connected effortlessly with each other and with references to Pina Bausch and current news topics. The dancers throw themselves now in full speed and explosive power in the arms of their partners, then they surrender to peace and tenderness. For awhile then.
The music is also switched smoothly between jazzy vocals of South Africa's Tutu Puoane and live played rough rhythms of dEUS composer Mauro Pawlowski.
"A lot of crashing, swirling patches and sensual dance," Knack wrote about this work of Vandekeybus, which the dance world for thirty years stunned with spectacular - not harmless! - Raw choreographies that combine dance and rock music.
